The National Institute of Health awarded a grant for Keraderm to develop its technology. In addition, Keraderm has raised private equity to fund initial clinical trials on our technology. The clinical trials have shown that our treatment is efficacious and has a very low occurrence of side effects. The data compare very favorably with treatments that are currently on the market.
The results of our research grant with the National Institute of Health were published online in the British Journal of Dermatology in April of 2008. The data confirm the effectiveness of UVC in penetrating nails and inactivating the organisms that cause onychomycosis. Additionally, pilot clinical trials have established that Keraderm’s technology improves the appearance of infected nails. The results of these trials were presented at the World Congress of Dermatology in October 2007 and at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in February of 2008.
